Comparison of single and multichannel cystometry in diagnosing bladder instability.

چکیده
The abilities of single channel cystometry and standard multichannel cystometry to diagnose bladder instability were compared in 100 women taking part in a single blind crossover trial. In 93 of the women both tests yielded the same result. The single channel system detected every case of detrusor instability but in seven women suggested detrusor contractions that were not evident on multichannel cystometry. These were probably due to changes in abdominal pressure. It is concluded that single channel cystometry when used in conjunction with simple urethral tests can provide most of the information that is obtained in specialist centres investigating bladder function.

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the role of cystometry in the diagnostic evaluation of patients with symptoms of overactive bladder, by comparing the treatment outcome in those with and without urodynamically proven bladder instability. Background: Impairment in the function of the lower urinary tract can be the cause of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTI) and vesico-ureteral reflux (VUR) in children. The purpose of our research was to evaluate the frequency of occurrence of bladder instability in children with UTI.Methods: The research involved 133 children (11 boys, 122 girls), ranging in age from seven months to 14 yea...
متن کاملCombination of bladder ultrasonography and novel cystometry method in mice reveals rapid decrease in bladder capacity and compliance in LPS-induced cystitis.
Various animal models have been used in research into bladder dysfunction, and in vivo cystometry is a common method to analyze bladder function in animals. However, it is rather difficult to perform reliably in small animals. Transabdominal bladder ultrasonography combined with cystometry in urethane-anesthetized mice have revealed physical inhibition of bladder wall movement by a bladder cath...

PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of posture and repetition of filling cystometry on urodynamic parameters. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventy-one men with benign prostatic hyperplasia participated in a urodynamic study between September 2015 and August 2016 and were randomly assigned to a supine to supine (group SS, n=16), erect to erect (group EE, n=16), supine to erect (group SE, n=19) or erect to...
متن کاملThe Role of Intra-abdominal Pressure Measurement in Awake Rat Cystometry
Rat cystometry is increasingly being used in research on overactive bladder and is a research tool for investigating bladder functions during the storage and voiding phases. Measurement of the pressure in the bladder is an essential part of cystometry, although that pressure is the sum of both detrusor and intra-abdominal pressures. In anesthetic cystometry, measurement of the intra-abdominal p...
